Thanks for your kind thoughts, MH, but it was many years ago.
In the intervening 20 odd years virtually no advances have been made because it's too damn tricky and not glamorous enough.
My daughter works in the field and tells me nobody wants to do pancreatic cancer research because research is expensive and the chances of a breakthrough are slim and reputations and funding suffer in the absence of a breakthrough. As always, follow the money.
Every time someone else dies of this, it makes my blood boil.

Smiths were one of those rare bands where every member is a perfect match and (IMO) irreplaceable. Everyone talks about Morrissey and Marr - and rightly so - but the other two are absolutely vital.

Genuinely sad about this. The Smiths used to be my favourite band in the 80’s, only saw them live once, some free GLC gig on the south bank.
Used to joke that I had every Smiths album and would marry the girl that was impressed by that.
Unsurprisingly I’ve never married.
